This was a terrific event. It was easy to go from one group's performance to the next because the rooms were close to each other. Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Orchestra were really great. She is local and performs each summer at La Jolla...continued

The music was amazing!! I only went on Sunday and regreted that I had not been there all week-end. Next year I'll go every day.

MIMI BLAIS (Montreal, Quebec) Pianist.  This marvelous ragtimer is also a fabulous entertainer.  Expect full houses and standing ovations when she performs!  Friday-Sunday

BLUE STREET JAZZ BAND (Fresno, CA).  Now in their 25th year, the Blue Crew continues to play high energy traditional jazz that appeals to several generations.  Friday-Sunday  

BUCK CREEK JAZZ BAND (Springfield, VA).  The BCJB has played an individualistic, driving traditional jazz style since 1977.  We are honored that they have chosen the San Diego Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Festival for their final festival appearance!  Thursday-Sunday

CASH KINGS (San Diego, CA) This Johnny Cash tribute band, featuring vocalist Johnny D’Artenay, presents an authentic and compelling tribute to the Man in Black. Sunday.

KATIE CAVERA (Los Angeles, CA) Guest artist.  This wonderful performer is one of our all-time favorites.  Katie has enthusiastic fans around the globe—literally!  Thursday – Sunday 

JOHN COCUZZI (Sacramento, CA).  Guest artist.  A world-class vibraphonist, John is also an outstanding pianist, drummer and singer!  Friday-Sunday

CORNET CHOP SUEY (St. Louis, MO).  Awesome musicianship and a stunning performance style have made this group one of the most sought-after bands on the festival circuit.  Friday-Sunday

COYOTE HILLS JAZZ BAND (Riverside, CA).  This traditional-style band, with vocalist Evie Fiorani, has entertained audiences at festivals, jazz clubs and concerts throughout Southern California  Friday-Sunday

CHRIS DAWSON (Santa Monica, CA) Pianist.  This terrific young keyboard artist plays stride, swing, vocal accompaniments and modern jazz—all with perfect taste and technique. Friday-Sunday

DELTA STOMPERS (San Francisco, CA).  Descended from the Yerba Buena  Stompers, this group plays New Orleans Jazz, from the Buddy Bolden Era to the Great Revival of the 1940s.  Thursday-Sunday

DIXIE EXPRESS (San Diego, CA).  One of the finest bands in America’s Finest City, Dixie Express has a well-deserved and enthusiastic following.  Wednesday; Friday-Sunday

GRAND DOMINION JAZZ BAND (Camano Island, WA).  The GDJB plays a unique brand of New Orleans Jazz which appeals to an international audience.  Thursday-Sunday

EVA EMINGEROVA  (Czech Republic) Guest artist.  A superb jazz vocalist and entertainer, during the festival she will be the featured vocalist with the High Society Jazz Band.  Wednesday-Sunday

FULTON STREET JAZZ BAND (Sacramento, CA).  Since 1974, the Fulton Street band has played swinging jazz in the Eddie Condon tradition.  Friday-Sunday

HAYRIDERS (La Jolla, CA).  High-profile traditional jazz and swing musicians play Rockabilly classics from the Louisiana Hayride to Sun Studios.  Friday-Sunday

HELIOTROPE RAGTIME ORCHESTRA (San Diego, CA).  Dancers can do the Bunny Hug, Turkey Trot, Grizzly Bear or even the Charleston to the authentic period music played by this terrific orchestra.  Friday – Saturday

HIGH SOCIETY JAZZ BAND (La Jolla, CA).  High Society is known for their extensive repertoire and a solid beat that dancers admire.  They will be joined at the Festival by the remarkable vocalist Eva Emingerova.  Wednesday- Sunday

TIM LAUGHLIN’S NEW ORLEANS ALL STARS with CONNIE JONES (New Orleans, LA).  Laughlin, a world-renowned clarinetist, leads this swinging New Orleans style band—featuring veteran cornetist Connie Jones and several well-known California musicians.  Thursday-Sunday

CARL SONNY LEYLAND (New Cuyama, CA) Pianist.  Southern California’s “Boogie Man” plays hot boogie woogie, stomps, struts, rags and blues.  He is a longtime festival favorite—for good reason!  Thursday-Sunday 

NATURAL GAS JAZZ BAND (San Francisco, CA).  Since 1970, “the Gas” has performed San Francisco Jazz around the world—at festivals, concerts, jazz clubs and on countless cruises.  Friday-Sunday

NIGHT BLOOMING JAZZMEN (Claremont, CA).  For over 30 years the NBJ have performed traditional jazz across the U.S., Europe and Asia.  Their schedule in 2008 is as busy as ever!  Thursday-Sunday

SUE PALMER and her MOTEL SWING ORCHESTRA (San Diego, CA).  Boogie Woogie, sophisticated swing and lowdown blues featuring the leader’s red hot piano, a jumpin’ band and vocalist Deejah Marie.  Friday-Sunday

RAY SKJELBRED (Seattle, WA) Pianist.  The Windy City keyboard traditions of Hines, Stacy, Sullivan and Hodes come alive in the hands of this Chicago native.  Friday-Sunday

STATESMEN OF JAZZ – CLARINET SUMMIT (U.S.A./Europe).  Three of the top clarinetists in the world—Pieter Meijers, Bob Wilber and Antti Sarpilla—join forces with an all-star rhythm section to produce unforgettable sounds.  Friday-Sunday 

VIRGINIA TICHENOR (Oakland, CA) Pianist.  This wonderful performer is constantly in demand at ragtime events across the U.S.  Friday-Sunday

TITANIC JAZZ BAND (Burbank, CA).  This excellent band specializes in the  Good Time San Francisco Jazz of Lu Watters and Turk Murphy.  Friday-Sunday

UPTOWN LOWDOWN JAZZ BAND (Seattle, WA).  Uptown is one of the best known and most admired of contemporary traditional jazz bands.   Friday-Sunday

DICK WILLIAMS’ JAZZSEA JAMS  (Pleasanton, CA) Bring your instrument and join in the fun. Everyone is welcome at these organized jam sessions! Friday – Sunday

CHLOE FEORANZO (San Diego, CA).  Youth guest artist.  Be sure to hear this young saxophonist—already a seasoned professional, with an impressive resumé.  Friday-Sunday 

THE JAZZ ENSEMBLE (San Diego, CA).  Organized by Vince Greco and Matt Smith, this group spotlights some of the most accomplished young musicians in San Diego.  Friday-Sunday 

MISSION BAY HIGH DIXIE BAND (San Diego, CA).  In the hands of these great young musicians from Mission Bay High, the future of jazz is safe!  Friday – Sunday

And the local bands Bayside Dixie Stompers, Red Pepper Jazz Band, San Diego Banjo Band, San Fernando Valley Banjo Band and South Bay Jazz Ramblers.
