Tim Burton's Batman With the SF Symphony
It's hard to imagine now, with comic book movies running rampant in Hollywood, but when Tim Burton's Batman came out in 1989, no one had ever seen anything like it. The Gothic master brought his eye to bear in painting Gotham darker and grittier than ever before, with a psychologically complex Dark Knight (Michael Keaton) and a truly certifiable Joker (a scenery-chewing Jack Nicholson). And topping off the whole thing was Danny Elfman's iconic, Grammy-winning score. Now you can experience this fan favorite on the big screen at Davies Symphony Hall, accompanied live by the San Francisco Symphony. (Just don't blame the orchestra if you wind up humming the theme for the next two weeks.)
