Legendary Swedish-Japanese pianist Fuzjko Hemming brings her Arigato Charity Concert program to the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre. Born in Berlin in the 1930s to a Japanese mother and Swedish-Russian father, Hemming was quickly identified as a musical prodigy. She had her first concert at 17 and immediately racked up acclaim and honors. During a concert in Vienna in the 1970s, Hemming came down with a high fever and lost her hearing. She fought back from this crisis and continued to play, even with her hearing impairment. She went on to become a world-class concert pianist who has performed at every major population center in the world. Here is your chance to hear her stirring sounds and help Japan in its continued recovery from the tsunami. A portion of proceeds from the concert will benefit the 2011 Japan Relief Fund for victims of the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011.
