R&B Legend Martha Wash Brings Powerful Voice to Feinstein's
Martha Wash first achieved fame as one half of the successful act Two Tons O' Fun, who sang backup for disco artist Sylvester. After gaining their own record deal, the duo was renamed The Weather Girls and released the multi-platinum single "It's Raining Men." Wash then made a successful transition to house music as a featured artist on several songs, including "Gonna make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" "Everybody, Everybody" and "Strike it Up." Her work for Black Box and C+C Music Factory is responsible for landmark legislation in the 1990s making vocal credits mandatory on CDs and music videos. She followed with the release of her own No. 1 hit on the Billboard Dance Chart, "Carry On." Today Wash is a producer of First Ladies of Disco, a stage musical about the women who created the chart-topping hits of the disco era.
