The San Francisco Symphony celebrates the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dog with the award-winning Chinese New Year Concert on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. This year’s celebration will kick-off the Symphony’s first-ever China tour, taking our orchestra to Hong Kong, and Shanghai (San Francisco’s Sister City). In honor of this special occasion, we have planned a spectacular evening event.

This year’s the concert will feature internationally renowned pipa (Chinese lute) virtuoso Wu Man, who has toured and recorded with the great Yo-Yo Ma as part of the Silk Road Project, and 18-year-old piano prodigy Yuja Wang, whom the New Yorker calls, “a dynamic player”. All concert attendees are invited to begin the celebration with the Festival Reception starting at 7:00 pm. The reception inside Davies Symphony Hall lobbies showcases the beauty of Chinese culture through food, fashion, music and entertainment.
