Saul Williams (Def Poetry Slam) Stars in Reflective Sengalese Film Tey
COMP - $5*
If you woke up one morning with the realization that today would be the last day of your life, what would you do? That's the situation facing Satché, the protagonist in Senegalese/French director Alain Gomis' haunting, quietly reflective 2012 film Tey (Today). Having recently returned home to Senegal after several years in America, Satché -- played by renowned slam poet and actor Saul Williams -- wanders through his homeland visiting friends, family and his former lover in a gorgeously understated, philosophical film about coming to terms with death in order to better appreciate life. The film is presented in Wolof (a language of Senegal) and French, with English subtitles.
