The Future of Comedy Showcase With Kabir "Kabeezy" Singh
One of the nation's fastest-rising comedy stars, Kabir Singh is a huge crowdpleaser with an abundance of energy, in-your-face attitude and clever material that appears to all ages. He began his stand-up career in 2009 when he won the Bay Area Comedy Competition, beating 170 other comedians. Born in 1984 in Portland, Oregon to traditional Indian parents, Singh realized at a young age that it wouldn't be easy to make friends at school. Luckily, he soon became known as the funniest Indian kid in Oregon -- not too difficult considering he was the only Indian kid in Oregon. At nine, he moved with his family to Bombay, India, where he was bullied and teased for being American, and he coped by learning to make people laugh in no less than three languages. Today Singh cleverly relates his life experiences and the culture clashes of being an Indian in America and an American in India. In 2012 he made his TV debut on the Starz Network for the TV series StaannDUP!. That set led to appearances on Comedy Central. Later that same year Singh won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition -- which has included past competitors like Dana Carvey, Robin Williams, Ellen Degeneres, Louis CK, Patton Oswalt and Dane Cook. Since then, he's won numerous other competitions and appeared on stages around the country. See him live when he hits the stage as the headliner for Punchline Comedy Club's Future of Comedy Showcase.
