YES to Everything
Footloose Presents YES to Everything , a festival of playwrights who perform in their own dramatic, comedic and musical pieces. Each night is a different double bill that runs the gamut from comedy to storytelling to music and movement. Some are group pieces and some solos--all are premieres. These artists have devised original works, some with location, current events and audience engagement in mind. Local theater legend, Bob Ernst, (pictured) brings a live musical interpretation of the songs and poetry of Keith Lee White who was incarcerated at the age of fifteen and is currently doing life in prison. Ron Jones is an award winning writer/performer with an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Peabody. Jovelyn Richards, master storyteller of black love and intimacy, heads a diverse ensemble of actors and musicians to recreate the smoky atmosphere of an infamous dance club. Julie Drucker performs a solo drama with timely themes of immigration, trauma, forgiveness and complex family dynamics. Kathleen Denny tests the boundaries for women working next to men in her comedy of women who pushed back against intolerance on the job.
