Based on the timeless Peanuts comics by Charles M. Schulz, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown features familiar and beloved characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Sally, Lucy and Schroeder. Some of the gang's most memorable situations from both the comic strip and TV specials come to life on stage, with appearances from the Kite-Eating Tree, the Little Red-Haired Girl, Lucy's psychiatry booth and Snoopy's battles with the Red Baron. The lively adventures of the Peanuts gang are punctuated by playwright-composer Clark Gesner's whimsical score, featuring simple but catchy tunes like "Suppertime," "Happiness" and the title song. Saw "The Grand Duke" last night, performed by the Lyric Theatre (Gilbert & Sullivan Society). This rarely-performed Gilbert & Sullivan opera is filled with great tunes, often hysterically funny dialogue, and a plot as twisted (in a good way) of any grand opera.
I laughed a lot, and Lyric Theatre presented some of the funniest performers you are likely to see on a stage in a while, who wholeheartedly threw themselves into the absurdity of the characters and made them their own.
I heartily recommend this show. Only one weekend left!
