Seattle Symphony's Beyond the Score Looks at Pictures at an Exhibition
This concert/multimedia experience from the Beyond the Score series explores the story behind Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky's famously evocative suite of 10 piano pieces, collectively entitled Pictures at an Exhibition. Mussorgsky wrote the work based on his impressions of paintings by his friend, Edward Hartmann. Take a trip from Baba Yaga's hut to the Great Gate of Kiev as narrator Steve Reeder and local actors join the orchestra on the stage for an evening that's as informative as it is entertaining. Stilian Kirov conducts.
