Gerard Schwarz Returns to the Seattle Symphony for Strauss
Conductor Laureate Gerard Schwarz will cross the street named after him to reunite with the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall for an exciting evening devoted to the works of Richard Strauss. Award-winning American pianist William Wolfram is set to appear as the guest soloist for this all-Strauss concert, which opens with Don Juan, followed by Burleske and Divertimento, all leading to Schwarz's own arrangement of the Suite from Strauss' blockbuster opera Der Rosenkavalier. In his acclaimed 26-year tenure as the orchestra leader, Maestro Schwarz championed 19th-century German, Austrian and Russian composers, as well as contemporary American ones, and amassed a discography of more than 140 recordings.
