Deeply moving play. It surpassed all my expectations. I was very impressed by the acting and vocal/musical talent of this cast.

This was an amazing experience. Every cast member was incredible! The singing and the choreography were magnificent. It was even better than the one I saw at the Taper.

Quotes & Highlights

“Enough cannot be said about Matthew Park’s musical direction, which is sensitive and, at times, heart-wrenchingly beautiful.” — Cary Ginell, Simi Valley Acorn
“The entire cast … is the congregate star of the show, so tightly integrated in song, movement and emotion that it gives the simple plot an artful boost.” — Rita Moran, Ventura County Star

Description

It’s Germany, 1891. The beautiful young Wendla explores her body and asks her mother where babies come from. Elsewhere, the brilliant and fearless young Melchior defends his buddy Moritz — a boy so traumatized by puberty he can’t concentrate on anything. One afternoon in the woods, Wendla and Melchior discover a desire unlike anything they’ve ever felt. Spring Awakening explores the confusion and desperation that ensue when the onrushing tide of hormones meets the ignorance of children. Spring Awakening celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy, and passion that you will never forget._

Spring Awakening_ is often explicit in its language and depiction of sexual situations; however it is not gratuitous in nature. Parental discretion is highly recommended for ages 16 and under. No child under 16 years will be admitted without a parent. The producers wish to discourage anyone under the age of 14 from attending this production.
