Interactive Holograms Recall the Holocaust
$8 - $12*
This acclaimed Skokie museum provides a powerful, tactile, interactive -- and ultimately hopeful -- experience, as real-life Holocaust survivors appear in 3D holographic form, both to tell their stories and amazingly, to answer live questions. Their new exhibit, Stories of Survival, showcases 60 never-before-seen personal items brought to America by survivors of the Holocaust and other genocides, including Armenia, Bosnia, Cambodia, Iraq, South Sudan, Rwanda and Syria. Each artifact features photographs by renowned documentarian Jim Lommasson, with handwritten responses by survivors or their family members. The Take a Stand Center includes four galleries that inspire visitors to get involved in social-justice campaigns, through action, art and more. And that's only the beginning. As a stirring memorial to the millions of Jews and others who perished, the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center hosts a permanent collection of more than 500 artifacts, documents, photos and even a German rail car of the type that was used in Nazi deportations, as well as a youth gallery and several peaceful and beautifully designed contemplative spaces for personal reflection.
