Jorge Continentino is a saxophonist, flautist, composer, arranger and educator, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was raised in a musical family where learning the language of music and music theory were part of everyday life. At the young age of 15, Jorge began playing professionally in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Rio alongside his father, Mauro Continentino, a jazz pianist, and two brothers, Kiko and Alberto, a pianist and bassist respectively. After years of playing professionally alongside some of Brazil's biggest names in music, including Marisa Monte, Skank, and Milton Nascimento, Jorge released his solo album, Portrait, and moved to New York City with his wife and family to join the rich local jazz and Brazilian music scenes. In his 25 years of playing professionally, Jorge has shared the stage with many well-known artists from the worlds of jazz and pop in both Brazil and the United States, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stewart Copeland, Gilberto Gil, David Byrne, Steve Earle, Bebel Gilberto, Roberta Sá, Eumir Deodato, Jason Lindner, Marcos Valle, Durval Ferreira and more. Now you can see Jorge Continentino and his quartet live at Jazz Forum.
