There aren't many contemporary dance creators as recognized as choreographer Camille A. Brown. Famed for a signature style combining African dance, hip hop, jazz, modern, ballet and even tap, she's the first woman ever to receive the prestigious Princess Grace Award for choreography and the winner of both a TED and Guggenheim Fellowship. Now she's bringing her company back to Tempe's ASU Gammage with her latest full-length piece, ink, which celebrates the cultural rituals and traditions of the African Diaspora and explores how African Americans are reclaiming their narratives.
