Old 97's: Alt-Country-Rock Pioneers
There aren't many bands in the history of rock that can boast a totally intact and unchanged line-up after 25 years. But the Old 97's were always one of a kind -- both traditional and ground-breaking at the same time. Considered the pioneers of the alt-country rock movement of the '90s, the Old 97's recorded their seminal 1996 album Too Far to Care in a ramshackle studio in Tornillo, Texas, and have since had their music appear on TV and in movies like The Break-Up and released more than a dozen albums, including their latest Holy Smokes. Catch them live on the Coca-Cola Sun Deck at ASU's Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
