The Da Camera Society's latest Chamber Music in Historic Sites ventures into the lush wilderness of Topanga Canyon, where an historic Spanish Colonial retreat offers an afternoon of intimate grandeur. In the baronial splendor of the great room, the Grammy-nominated Volger Quartet performs Debussy's String Quartet No. 1 with "all the qualities one hopes for but rarely encounters in a chamber group; an extraordinary unanimity, a rich sound and impeccable balance" (The Times, London). They're joined by "technically assured and enthusiastic young Canadian pianist" (Washington Post) Ian Parker for Schumann's monumental Piano Quintet No. 1.
