When wallflower Charlie Baker goes on a getaway to a fishing lodge in Georgia, all he wants is peace and quiet. He can't avoid the other guests, though, so a helpful friend "saves" him by claiming he is a foreigner who cannot speak or understand English. Comedy ensues as everyone unwittingly reveals their secrets and scandals to Charlie, thinking he can't understand. What started as a serene getaway becomes a hive of drama and intrigue in this exceedingly clever and outrageously funny farce. Learn More
IMPORTANT NOTE: Seating is ALL General Admission, so get in line by 6:15 to see this show. We arrived at about 6:25 and there were already at least 70 people waiting to get in when they opened the doors at 6:30. The theater seats over 350, so we had a good choice of seats, but if we had done our usual habit of arriving 5 minutes before the show to slide into our assigned seats, we'd have been horribly disappointed.info • Aug 26 2013 star this tip starred
There is nothing in the way of eating places right by the theater that are open at night. There is a Chili's on the way plus some other faster food choices a short drive away. Don't drink too much...the play is long. The line for the ladies room during intermission was VERY long!dining • Aug 26 2013 star this tip starred

For a community theater experience, this was excellent. It's a huge cast, and everyone did a great job, right on cue, including the children in the cast. Vista is an hour away from where we live, so this first-time experience at this venue needed to be great for us to consider returning...and the verdict is in...we will definitely return to the Avo. This is an opera, so everything is sung. Some voices were particularly outstanding. One young boy in particular is destined for stardom! There was a raffle during intermission, as well as an auction, so that was fun. We happened to win the biggest prize, so that was frosting on the cake! Go see it...you won't be sorry.
