O'Carolan Etcetera, Boston's North Shore-based ensemble of musicians, brings to life the legacy of the acclaimed 18th century Irish harpist from whom they derive their name, Turlough O'Carolan. At the historic Gore Place, they'll perform selections from three centuries of traditional instrumental music: early English dance tunes that Jane Austen would have known, Irish jigs and Scottish airs, toe-tapping reels from old New England, and -- not to be missed -- French-Canadian tunes played on the hurdy gurdy. With Adrienne Howard on fiddle and hurdy gurdy, Cindy McIntire on silver flute, Irish wooden flute and tin whistle, and Richard Luecke on acoustic and classical guitar, it's a night of music that transports you to another time and place.
