Reggae Pioneers Black Uhuru at Howard Theatre
Black Uhuru came to prominence as one of the earliest reggae groups to gain fame in the U.S., capturing the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1985. But they've been playing together for over 40 years, since first forming in the Waterhouse district of Kingston, Jamaica. Over the years, the group's lineup has changed dramatically, but the smooth sounds have always remained the same. Expect to hear hits like "Sponji Reggae," "The Great Train Robbery" and more when founder and frontman Derrick "Duckie" Simpson leads Black Uhuru through this concert appearance at D.C.'s Howard Theatre.
