Acclaimed Poet Carolyn Forché Debuts New Collection
Award-winning poet, translator, editor and human rights advocate Carolyn Forché comes to the Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C. to present her latest poetry anthology, Poetry of Witness. Her previous works include Gathering the Tribes, winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize, The Country Between Us, The Angel of History, Blue Hour and most recently In the Lateness of the World. Her famed international anthology, Against Forgetting, was praised by Nelson Mandela as "itself a blow against tyranny, against prejudice, against injustice." She is currently director of the Lannan Center for Poetry and Poetics and holds the Lannan Chair in Poetry at Georgetown University. There will be a reception and book-signing following the reading.
