Bluegrass musician David Grisman and former leader of the Lovin' Spoonful, John Sebastian, have joined forces for a live performance at The Howard Theatre. Grisman is normally associated with the bluegrass and country music, but his music owes almost as much to jazz as it does to Americana. Because he couldn't think of what to call his unique and highly intricate, blend of genres, he offhandedly decided to call it "dawg music" -- a name which, curiously enough, has stuck. He'll take the stage with John Sebastian, who, as the leader of the folk-rock band the Lovin' Spoonful, was responsible for a string of Top Ten hits that included the chart-toppers "Daydream" and "Summer in the City." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 as part of the Lovin' Spoonful.
