Malpaso Dance Fuses Cuban Traditional & Contemporary
Representing Cuba's expanding cultural life, Havana-based contemporary dance company Malpaso -- whose name, jokingly, means "misstep" in Spanish -- skillfully blend unfussy ballet, their colorful native Afro-Cuban tradition, and intensely physical modern dance. Malpaso's performances during their sold-out run in New York City -- and throughout the U.S. -- have been critically lauded for their powerful passion and choreographic vision, further reinforcing their role in the renewed dialogue between contemporary American and Cuban dance. Prepare to be dazzled as this dance troupe gem gives another evocative performance at The Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater in Washington D.C. as part of Artes de Cuba. The program is set to feature Aszure Barton's Indomitable Waltz, along with Osnel Delgado's Ocaso and 24 Hours and a Dog.
