Set Sail on a Musical Journey During Map of the World
Channeling the spirit of music from centuries ago, Map of the World is a stirring musical journey through Spanish sounds of the 13th and 15th centuries. Featuring a series of vocals, lively dances and psalteries, this concert showcases history's first song cycle -- the "Seven Songs of Love" by Gallician Martim Codax. The burgeoning curiosity and spirit of adventure of the era present themselves in a mass by the 15th century Spaniard Juan Cornago, based on a popular song about a map of the world. Performers include soprano Emily Noel and tenor Aaron Sheehan.
