Author Benjamin Alire Sáenz receives the prestigious PEN/Faulkner Award and reads from his winning short-story collection Everything Begins and Ends at the Kentucky Club
at this 33rd annual ceremony and dinner reception honoring the best American fiction work of the year. Based in El Paso, Sáenz is also an award-winning poet and children's author. He'll appear with his fellow finalists Amelia Gray (Threats
), T. Geronimo Johnson (Hold It 'Til It Hurts
) and Thomas Mallon (Watergate
), as well as Lorna Hunt, sister of Laird Hunt (Kind One
), who will read a selection from his novel in his place. This year's judges -- Walter Kirn, Nelly Rosario and A.J. Verdelle -- are set to introduce this impressive group. Tickets include a reception with open bar and full buffet dinner following the ceremony.
