Addiction and Recovery in People for Whom the World Spins and Turns
People for Whom the World Spins and Turns is about addiction and recovery; a topic front and center on the American landscape. This world premiere play introduces five recovering addicts and their sometimes-catastrophic attempts to survive a 28-day recovery program. Not yielding to temptation becomes a day-to-day strategy as questionable practices ensue. Relationships begin, strengthen and disintegrate as these five lives spin, turn, evolve and stand still in People for Whom the World Spins and Turns. This Anacostia Playhouse production by James J. Hsiao, MD, produced by The Essential Theatre, is part of D.C.'s Addiction/Recovery Project, which will present a series of community conversations surrounding the production.
