Just a stone's throw away from Frederick Douglass' historic home at Washington DC's Cedar Hill, The Frederick Douglass Project at the Yards Marina features live music, hip hop and dancing in an innovative blend of African American and Irish culture. The show commemorates Douglass' 1845 voyage to Ireland and the bicentennial of his birth. The Frederick Douglass Project consists of two short plays: An Eloquent Fugitive Slave Flees to Ireland by African-American writer and local theater star Psalmayene 24, and Wild Notes by award-winning Irish playwright Deirdre Kinahan. These short plays give audiences a dual perspective on Douglass' experience in Ireland.
