Peter Ackerman's screwball bedroom comedy about three couples' unsuccessful attempts at getting it on has been so successful as a theatrical production, DIRECTV recently ordered a 10-episode adaptation of it for television. On stage at Keegan Theatre, Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight
kicks off with a bang as young couple Ben and Nancy's late-night lovemaking session is derailed when Nancy takes the dirty talk into the racial slur territory. Their ensuing argument sends Nancy off to find her friend Grace for advice, who is having relationship troubles of her own as she deals with her neurotic hit man of a boyfriend. Throw in a licensed therapist and his geriatric gay lover brought in to make sense of the situation, and the result is a crazed sexual farce as funny as it is provocative.
