The Washington Ballet (TWB) propels the art of dance forward by leaps and bounds with its latest trio of world-premiere works by three rising choreographic stars, all performed to live music. Alvin Ailey's Clifton Brown brings wit and charm to Rossini's Duet for Cello and Double Bass as part of his first-ever commission, entitled Menagerie, while American Ballet Theatre dancer Gemma Bond debuts Myriad, a piece focusing on female gender roles, set to the baroque music of Henry Purcell. The new narrative work The Outset by Brazilian-born Marcelo Gomes, a former principal dancer at the ABT, is inspired by Dvorak's "American Quartet" and explores one man's yearning to leave his tight-knit community to venture out into the world beyond. Be the first to see these three pieces, at DC's Sidney Harman Hall, and witness the birth of the future of dance as these current renowned dancers choreograph for their peers.
