When you think Latin jazz, you probably don't hear turntable scratches -- unless you're already a fan of Cuban fusion band Yissy & Bandancha. Led by drummer Yissy Garcia (daughter of famed percussionist Bernardo Garcia, of Arturo Sandoval's band), this rockin' group fuses sounds that fans of Buena Vista Social Club will recognize with funk and electronic influences for an infectious hybrid. After getting her start in the women's salsa band Anacaona, Garcia has become an iconic figure on the music scene, performing with everyone from Dave Matthews to Esperanza Spalding. Yissy & Bandancha recently released their debut album, Última Noticia
, and now they're coming to Washington, D.C., for this Artes de Cuba Festival concert at the Kennedy Center.
