Registration is required to reserve seating and refreshments. Palghat Dr. R. Ramprasad, the grandson of the legendary Mridangam vidwan Padmashri Palghat Mani Iyer, started learning music from a very young age from his father Sri T.R.Rajaram. RamPrasad’s entry into the concert platform was in the year 1988 in Youth Association for Classical Musical popularly known as YACM in Chennai, when he was hardly 8 years old. He won the “Best Artist” of the series. From then on, he has been regularly performing concerts in and out of India. Ramprasad aims at adhering to the traditional classical style with more emphasis on “Neraval” singing, which according to his Grandfather is the test of a true vocalist. Several Legends such as Sangeetha Kalanidhis Sri. T.K.Murthy, Late Sri Palghat Raghu, Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Sri Ramabadhran, Sri Trichy Sankaran, and doyens Sri T.V.Gopalkrishnan, Sri M.S.Anantharaman, and Sri Sikkil Bhaskaran, to name a few, have accompanied Ramprasad. Ramprasad is an “A” grade artist in All India Radio (AIR) and performs regularly on all the leading television channels. He teaches music to students in India and abroad, and some of his students are performing artists. Dr. Ramprasad, a renowned health econometrist, holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia and completed his fellowship at Harvard University (School of Public health). Rajeev Mukundan was initiated into this art form at the tender age of four. He’s currently under the tutelage of the legendary Kalaimamani A.Kanyakumari for almost a decade.A scholarship recipient from the Government of India from 2001 to 2009, Rajeev is one of the youngest ‘A’ graded artiste of All India Radio (AIR). Rajeev is a receipient of several prestigious awards like ‘Spirit of Youth Award’ given by ‘The Music Academy, Madras’ in the year 2008, “The Best Violinist Award” from ‘The Music Academy, Madras,’ in December 2011, etc. Rajeev has given many violin duet concerts with his Guru A.Kanyakumari, and also has toured and accompanied leading artistes like Sangeetha Kalanidhi T.V.Sankaranarayanan , Dr. N.Ramani, Malladi Brothers, Vijay Siva, T.M.Krishna, Oscar nominee Bombay Jayasri, Dr Nithyashri Mahadevan & Ranjani Gayathri. Thrissur C. Narendran is a renowned Mridangam artiste from Kerala, India. Born in a family of musicians and scholars, Narendran was initiated into an early training in Mridangam by Sri Kongorppilly Parameswaran Namboodiri. After early training from David Bhagavathar, E.P. Narayana Pisharodi and Koduvayur Radhakrishnan, Narendran had the rarest privileges to be one of the early disciples of Padmashri Palghat R. Raghu from whom he learnt the finer and the most intricate techniques of mridangam playing. Shri Narendran’s intricate rhythmic patterns, sense of proportion, sharp anticipation, short & carefully thought out phases of silence, and the ability to give the Mridangam the much-needed soft touch make him a class apart. Narendran has accompanied more than five generations of musicians, from legends Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy to present day stars Sanjay Subramaniam, T.M. Krishna, Sashank, Bombay Jayashree among others.
