Bold, brassy and remarkably charming, Gypsy's Mama Rose puts today's Dance Moms to shame. The ultimate stage mom, Mama Rose grooms her two daughters to be stars on the waning 1920s vaudeville circuit, only to see one of them leave her behind to become a burlesque sensation. With book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy features crowd-pleasing classics like "Everything's Coming Up Roses," "Let Me Entertain You," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" and the show-stopping "Rose's Turn." My friend and I were still laughing as we headed out the door. First time to this theater but, it will not be the last. The first act was so entertaining...so funny. The gentleman who played the part of Mr. Hart was terrific....all the actors did a good job. I told all my friends this is a must see performance. Only problem was the poor lighting while exiting the theater. The walk to our car was mostly in the dark.
