The legendary Harlem Gospel Choir will be filling Sony Hall with beautiful harmonies and uplifting songs for its annual Martin Luther King Day matinee performance. Featuring New York’s finest gospel singers, the choir has toured the country and performed for President Obama, Nelson Mandela and several nations’ royalty. They’ve also collaborated with Diana Ross, Bono, Josh Groban, Keith Richards, the Gorillaz and other renowned musicians. Join them for an inspirational tribute to the great civil rights leader. For the past 10 years, the Harlem Gospel Choir has brought its experience of Harlem and the Black Church to New York’s Times Square in a foot-stomping, hand-clapping, joyous gospel show. The world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir is the most famous gospel choir in America and a pre-eminent gospel choir worldwide. It travels the globe, sharing the joy of faith through its music and raising funds for children’s charities. The Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for the Choir while attending a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. The Choir presents the finest singers and musicians from Harlem’s Black Churches and the New York/Tri-State area.
