How was your experience?
It must have been a very thin year on Broadway when they were giving out the Tonys because the musical is just ok. While the voices are beautiful (especially those of the two leads), the story line is pretty cliched and not terribly deep. I think the writers were trying to say something to parents about how they should raise their children, which can be summed up in a few words: teach your children well. The score is ok; there are some sweet songs, but nothing terribly memorable. I don't have a burning desire to go out and buy the CD. But maybe I am not the target audience. I am no longer filled with teenage angst and perhaps can no longer relate to the themes presented!
