Wednesday July 8, 2009 / 7:00pmSunset Sail on Schooners Adirondack and Adirondack II
How was your experience?
Awesome event! It's not like typical NYC tours or shows, in that it is not a performance of any sort. There is no pretension, no pandering, no shameless promotions like every other tourist attraction in the world. This sail was exactly that--a sail. Captain, two crew members who were diligent enough to bring all of us drinks from down below. Water, beer, iced tea, and champagne. Captain let my dad helm the boat out of the marina and told us interesting stories about growing up as an urban sailor. I think it would be even a good experience in bad weather (they said they carry real foul-weather gear on board for every passenger if needed). Day or night... I think they have a post-sunset sail as well, don't they? This trip is listed on Goldstar as two separate events-- the daytime sail and the evening sail. I think they're pretty much the same, maybe plus or minus the champagne... only the times are different. (I was confused by this.) The retail prices are perfect, so imagine what a deal the Goldstar prices are! I'm from NY, and I would probably go on one of these trips at least once a month... why not? Can't have a better date!
