How was your experience?
Overall a mediocre production that had lots of bells and whistles but just didn't deliver when it really mattered. First the good news: the actors playing Hannigan, Lily and Rooster were truly wonderful! They brought "it" to the stage and engaged the audience in their hysterically funny character adaptations. Very entertaining! The orphan ensemble numbers were our second favorites. These kids were a delight to watch as they sang and danced their hearts out in their two big numbers. Finally, kudos goes to the woman playing Grace who managed to deliver a strong performance in the midst of some shaky scenes. Now the bad news: sadly, the weakest links for our group were the two actors portraying Annie and Warbucks. Warbucks had an excellent voice but his acting fell short. There was virtually no chemistry between him and Annie, making it very hard to believe the story line as it unfolded. Of course some allowances should be made for Annie because she is a child actor, but still we expected to witness an exceptionally strong singer and actor in this role, we did not. Annie managed the material in average fashion but seriously lacked any wow factor. The costumes were terrific as were most of the sets. The live orchestra was a real plus.
