The play is a lot of fun. Meera Rohit Kumbhani is believable as the Indian Cricket captain in part one. Madeline Wise makes the most of small pieces, chewing up scenery in the second act, especially when referring to her fever and where it is. Farce gives way to tragedy, with an interesting history lesson tied into the negative impact of colonialism. I felt that there was room for a coda of some kind, as the structure--first act--present day and second act--India in the 1850s on the eve of the Sepoy Rebellion leaves a sense of disconnection in the way the two halves engage each other, even as the final scene tries to bridge that gap--unsuccessfully in my opinion at least. Performances are very good, though the British accents sound filtered through American sensibilities.
