How was your experience?
If you're considering the Sights & Sips sunset cruise through Goldstar, I would recommend you do it without any hesitation at all. It was definitely the highlight of our weekend in San Diego. After a hectic day of travel, we had no idea that the Sights & Sips cruise would be the perfect answer to a long and stressful day. The cruise itself was exactly the right length (about 2 hours) and incredibly soothing and relaxing. They played some contemporary music but at no time was it overbearing. I agree with the poster who said to start your cruise inside towards the front and near the bar and then end your evening out on the deck to watch the sunset and the lights reflecting on the water. The happy hour appetizers were set out on a table buffet style. There were bags of prepared Frito Lays corn chips with chili and cheese, a tomato bean salad that I really liked, a mild chunky tomato salad, cauliflower/broccoli/mild chili peppers/cucumbers/carrots and ranch dip and tri-colored corn chips. Additionally, the friendly staff brought out trays of pulled pork sliders, deep fried enchiladas (these were great!) with a creamy avocado dip, bbq chicken skewers, pineapple upside down cake bites and chocolate dipped strawberries. I liked that you didn't have to wait at the bar if you just wanted a glass of water - you could serve it yourself. The atmosphere was really relaxed and the crowd ranged from young adults on the hip side to retiree types. Good mix of people and the cruise did not overbook - there were always places to sit both inside and outside. I would give this my highest recommendation for anyone looking for a short and relaxing cruise around the San Diego Marina at a value. If you have a regular appetite, you could definitely use the happy hour as a stand-in for dinner. Great value as well, especially through Goldstar since someone handed me a flyer for a similar cruise for 2 hours for $85 a person! If you're staying at any of the surrounding hotels, you can always patronize the local pedicab drivers who will take you back on their bike taxis for tips only!
