How was your experience?

Clear I hated it I didn't like it It was OK I liked it I loved it!
Let me start off by saying that this show is in my Pantheon of Favorite Musicals and this performance would be my fourth time this show has graced my ear canals. I simply adore the music in this show and that music has lived with me since I had the opportunity to see the show on Broadway. I won't get into my opinion of the show because I'm obviously jaded, however I must say that I was concerned when I saw a lot of the reviews for the Orange County performance. Many reviews talked of sound problems and such and my viewing was no different. Melchior came in at a whisper and Moritz came in at "11" It was a little disconcerting to say the least. My previous viewings in LA and NY had no such problems. For this show, I took a SA newbie to the show and she loved it, however she did remark that the female cast was much stronger than the males and I would have to agree. I have seen the original cast who were beyond fabulous and now on Glee, the early tour cast, who were a shade lower in quality, but not by much and finally the cast at this performance was sadly disappointing, especially Melchior. How you can have such a weak soft-singing actor playing such a strong male role is beyond me. Kyle Riabko was legendary by comparison. Anyways, if you haven't seen it, defintely go... If you have seen it and are jonesing for a repeat performance, you might want to assess your pocketbook because while this is a fabulous show, it is a lesser cast. Last point. Steffi D. playing Ilse is simply breathtaking. Her voice is every bit as intoxicating as Lauren Pritchard's. While not as smoky as Lauren's voice, it is sweeter like a red velvet cupcake... with sprinkles.
