Front of Tier 3
How was your experience?
I attended Hairspray with a friend and fellow Broadway fan. Neither of us had seen the show but were both familar with the original movie. The lead was fine - she had great energy on the group dance numbers but seems to struggle when dancing solo. Penny was a standout for me - she was funny and put a lot into her role. The hit of the night was Edna Turnblad. The understudy stepped in for our performance and he did a fantastic job. My guest noted that he was as close to Divine as anyone could get. His case of the giggles during a duet endeared me to him even more. This was a fun few hours - the second 1/2 was shorter and energetic - very enjoyable.
