How was your experience?
I am so sorry that I didn't review this musical when I first saw it. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE FLAW IN THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION! I have rarely had so much fun in my long theater going life. The kitsch was perfect. The blood letting, a side splitting gas! I sat front row center and was so drenched that I could not see at times. And I was crying tears of laughter. Even the actors came up to me after the show and remarked on my drenched condition. They said that in the front row, the more you laugh the more blood you are likely to receive. If that is the case, I must have received a record amount as payment for my pure enjoyment. Several denizens of the front row with whom I spoke were back for the second and third time. If you sit four or five rows back, or wear the provided "ponchos", you are spared the wet treatment. It seemed that even the people in the back rows were laughing pretty hard. A smattering of the audience came in costume (mostly Doctors, and Nurses, and Zombies). I wish I had thought of doing so; it looked like fun. I am sorry that I do not have my program at hand to specifically recognize the various actors. I am writing from Mexico and cannot do so, but they were all first rate. By the way, I had never seen the movie on which this book is based..... It doesn't matter at all. Do not go if you expect a serious play... This is for FUN, LAUGHTER, KITSCHYNESS, GOOD SINGING, AND GREAT COMIC ACTING. All ages seemed to be equally happy, but you must be young at heart. I shall go again, if it is still playing on my return from vacation.
