How was your experience?
The Saturday night preview was tepid, at best. I wasn't bothered by the lack of theatrical lighting - the light board was on the fritz and they ended up doing the show under general work lights - which I was warned about by the front-of-house staff before taking my seat. It was the blah, boring, "vanilla" performances that left me puzzled. I'd been hearing much buzz about this production, and about the script and score, and how solid all of it would be. There were some good voices amongst the cast, particularly the women at the older end of the cast spectrum, but that's about it. This evening of "entertainment" was worth the price of admission - $5.50. I'd have been very disappointed if I'd spent more to sit in a dark theatre and be bored for two hours. It was clear that I wasn't the only person to have this opinion, too. After intermission, the audience was noticeably smaller...
