How was your experience?
I left at intermission of PnP so I may have missed the dramatic conclusion....except it has no dramatic conclusion. If you find Jane exquisite, subtle, insightful, clever, a mistress of phrase and the first great female writer in English then here you get to see her book on stage almost untampered with by theater. If you find her slow, overwrought, precious and less clever than her conceit then you get a full helping of that as well. When I have attempted JA novels the word tedious is followed by unconvincing leading to so-what? Give me a short story not 300 pages of this. But perhaps I am impatient. The play really makes us see how far away we are from the Regency period. From dress to language and especially sentiment we are now a different people. You can attend to see that. Half a play will do.
