How was your experience?
Great voices encompass this technically complicated production of Les Mez. A+ for effort on the staging but lower marks for sound and lighting. Actors are hidden in darkness for the first twenty minutes of the play with too few spots and backlights. The noisy "lazy susanne" platform adds little and over challenges actors. Cap guns clearly annoy the actors as the musical battle beckons the director to take full advantage. The army of actors marching around stage is thunderous and annoying. The lead voices on the other hand, are more than impressive and are down-right astounding. If only the microphones worked more than they cut out. Improvements and lessons learned from opening night should make this production a winner for San Diego.
