How was your experience?
It is an interesting period piece. There is no serious placement of the marvelous Cole Porter songs. In fact, many do not seem right for the characters or the moment. Granted, this was before songs were used to further the action, but they don't even relate to it. The choreography lost its moment. The close of the first act and opening of the second act were good involvements of the talented cast, but some other numbers were shuffling around. Of course, it defied the rational, but if the stock trade were so important, couldn't Billy or Eli have done it by phone from the ship. Perhaps an explanation of why not would be in order. Last, Rachel seemed too old for the Reno role, but sang and danced well.
