Thursday June 13, 2013 / 7:00pmNational Symphony Orchestra: Halls/Hardy
How was your experience?
I have always wanted to hear a live performance of Vaughn Williams' Symphony No. 2 (A London Symphony.) This performance did not disappointment, especially done beautifully with a good young British conductor, Halls, with a very disciplined baton. The Ravel Toumbeau de Couperin was just an added bonus. The middle work, by recently deceased composer Dutilleaux, a modern cello concerto played by the NSO's principle cellist, was not my cup of tea, though I'm sure it was performed very well. I didn't care. It was the Vaughn Williams that I went to hear and I was therefore happy. Go Friday and Saturday. You won't be disapointed.
