Assigned at Box Office
How was your experience?
Left at the interval. We were told this was a workshop, which is fine by us - and we fully intended to stick around for the after-talk. But, by the half-way mark, we just didn't want to spend another 5 minutes with this character. We have been doing a lot of Lincoln-related study lately (books and film) and many of the play's details and performer's words and actions seemed accurate (although her accent was annoyingly all over the place and rarely felt natural...maybe due to all the recent changes to her script?) But, the set-up seemed forced and few shows need fog juice - but often use it - like here, to the annoyance of at least some close-in audience members. BTW, we very much enjoyed a previous one-man civil war-related show in this space, but this one didn't leave us wanting to know any more about the person portrayed - and that's a shame.
