How was your experience?
The production itself is outstanding with a fabulous set, costume, lights and staging. The actors are talented and a delight to watch on stage. Baloo and King Louis are especially impressive. The show falls flat in terms of the integration of new music with the Disney classics. The new music has a wonderful Indian flavor, but the tunes are not memorable. Act Two is slow and if the show is to go further, new music must be written and their needs to be a split between the two big production numbers at the end of Act One. The director's choice to weave members of the orchestra into the on-stage action was brilliant--kudos to an amazingly talented group of musicians. This seems more like a workshop show--the basics are there, but it definitely needs some new songs and fine tuning before it is ready for Broadway.
