How was your experience?
I did not like it until I liked it. And then I really liked it. Why? The too much updated, too crotch grabbing and 2013 humor put me off for quite awhile. Some in the audience were roaring at every obvious corny move. That may have affected my disdain. When idiots laugh you hesitate. And so by intermission I was thinking enough already, present a truly funny play please. This feels more like sketch comedy with no real connection to 1750 or a credible storyline. But they kept it up. Nonsense ala Marx brothers went on and on. A bit SNL, some circus and a lead who more than a little channels Jim Carey back when Jim was actually brilliant. Silly songs, silly plot, more non sequiters all began to turn into a hilarious poke in the ribs. And the effort was impressive. Given this was the first preview you are impressed by the ensemble work. I have seen hundreds of plays and improv acts. I have never seen this. For invention and difference alone and the over the top skill of several leads it is worth seeing.
