Mezzanine (Second Floor)
How was your experience?
My family expected much more from the show. Dancers were excellent. We liked them all; their dancing technique was impeccable, great choreography. The two comic numbers were very entertaining and the dancers were deliciously good. Musicians were exceptional, especially the pianist and the concertina soloist. The lead female dancer did a lot of lifts with her partner, which was impressive, but kind of stiff when dancing on the floor; we thought she was the weakest female tango dancer. The singer was not good, we did not like selection of songs, and especially the one repeated at the end- it was anticlimactic. She also could not hold a high note. Her appearance in the center of the stage was a wrong decision- she spoiled the whole impression of these numbers- should have stayed in the back. The opening number which was supposed to excite the viewer and kick off the show did not make sense. I do not know what was the idea, but our impression - gang members fight for street walkers. At the end, when the cast came out on stage, they did not get out of the "tango character", did not smile even once during the applause. It is unfortunate that the show failed to meet our expectations.
